Make-up Brush Holder

This is a pin that I absolutely love. For years now I've been keeping my makeup brushes in a hardbox pencil case. As we all know, makeup brushes can be really expensive. For example, a few of mine are Bare Minerals brushes and granted mine came in a kit, but I still paid like $40 for them. One of my brushes is a Mary Kay foundation brush, which I love, and it was only $10, but take that times like 6 since that's about how many brushes I use, and you've got alot of money out the door. Even if you don't spend alot on brushes, which is okay too (I'm a fan of bargains), it's still frustrating to be putting on your makeup and realize that something has ruined your brush. Now how are you going to apply that bronzer? Point being, we all have a makeup brush container/protector, but why not have a pretty one? Mine was simply a lime green pencil box that I had in high school. Not too pretty sitting on my bathroom vanity. When I saw this pin, I knew I'd have to make this, partially because it's pretty, but also because it's simple! All you need include:
                 - a box/canister/container that you like. I found mine for $5 at Wal-Mart in the kitchen section. They had a variety of shapes and sizes but I thought that this one would be the best for the brushes that I have.
                 - Pretty stones/rocks/jewels. All of the pink and white stones and flowers that are in mine I had in a vase from the flowers I got last year for Valentine's Day. Because I wanted to fill the vase up a bit more, I bought the green stones at Wal-Mart in the section with the vases, or you can find some cool rocks/jems near the fish supplies.

Depending on the size of your brushes, you'll have to fill up your container with a decent amount of stones to keep the brushes upright. Each container might look differently, simply make it yours.

This is what mine looks like.

Enjoy!

Who knew?!

So it's been more than a week since the last post but I promise there's a reason. I, of course, forgot my password; not even so much my password as my username. Typical. I swear I can never remember if it's gmail.com or hotmail.com or whatever.com.

With my absence I was able to experiment a little with some cutsy pins that were so obvious but something that I would've never thought to do.

Like...

Okay so this might sound stupid, but this is genius! Never in my childhood did I ever think to use a fork to dip my oreos in milk. Of all those times that the oreo suicidally sank to the bottom of my glass and I had to spoon it out of there; this certainly would've made things easier, so the other day, when the craving for chocolate came on, I was prepared. No more oreos at the bottom of my glass!

I know that there's many more simple but totally life-changing things like this out there so I'm continuing on my quest to make life much easier and oreo's more delicious.

Red Velvet Puppy Chow

Okay so for our very first Pinterest Creation, we opted to do something that's traditional. Growing up I can remember, several times throughout winter, making puppy chow with my mother and younger brother. Well, to put a spin on this, we decided to use a recipe that I found on Pinterest the other day. I, of course, was drawn to this recipe as red velvet holds a dear place in my heart. My great grandmother used to make the most incredible red velvet cake. No one, including my measly attempts, has been able to replicate it.

So this is our marvelous red velvet puppy chow, thanks to Pinterest, specifically unBearablyGood. I must include that this is a new favorite of mine and now a "go-to" dessert for me.

1 cup Cream Cheese Frosting  (we used this instead of white chocolate chips--it gives it a
                                                   little bit more creaminess)
2 Tbsp Cream Cheese
2 Tbsp Milk
5 Cups Rice Chex
1 Cup Red Velvet Cake Mix
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar

1. In a bowl, dump in cream cheese frosting and regular cream cheese (the fat free version didn't affect the taste in my opinion). Heat it however you prefer. We simply warmed it in the microwave (we were a bit too excited to eat it to wait for the stove to heat up).

2. Next add the milk. I'm sure it'd be okay if you added the milk in the first stage; however, we didn't want the milk to cure or boil as the other ingrediants melted. We did heat the milk a little bit, just so that it mixed with the frosting and cream cheese.

3. Pour in the 5 cups of rice chex and stir so that all the rice chex is coated with the previous concoction.

4. In a bag (we opted to use a generic grocery bad; and yes bags do work the best!), mix together the powdered sugar and red velvet cake mix.

5. And let the fun begin! Dump in the rice chex soupy, gooey, yummy mix into the bag with the powdered mixture and shake until your little heart feels content; but reallly, shake alot. It stays gooey for awhile so I would use more powdered sugar and cake mix. We probably doubled what the recipe says.

6. Enjoy!

Also, the coloring of this puppy chow is so gorgeous. It's a different look to the normal puppy chow. Possibly a dessert for Valentine's Day? Or even a bachelorette party?

Excuse the poor quality. Only my cellular was available.

What We're About

Ahemmmm!

Because of the recent  phenomenon called Pinterest, we have become engineers of the imagination. Since my insane dedication to the site and my ever increasing number of pins, Kayla & I have decided that it's time to share these creations. With over 2000 pins on record thus far, we're bound to annoy someone with our updates all the time. Sooo, we've created this blog to show the world that we're not crazy, we're just creative. Each week, we hope, to show the world a new "pin" that we've made, whether it be a recipe, DIY craft, home decor, or  make-up trick.
